HEALING CAN BE LOST
(John 5:14 KJV)
“Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee”.
While we bask and flow in the healing grace of God. It is crucial that we understand the origins of pains and sicknesses, we must also understand the fact that they can return where care is not taken . The man in our text is the one of Bethesda who had been in one condition for thirty eight years. Everyone came to that pool and met him lying there, sick and in pain. They got their healings and left him behind for these many years.
Jesus shows up one day, leaving the very multitude at Bethesda and went straight to him. This shows that God sees us right where we are. He got the man healed immediately, by making him carry his bed out of that place. What is amazing however is the fact that Jesus had to meet him again, and this time warning him, that if he sinned again, a worse thing could come to him. This simply revealed something major here, and that is the fact that sin sentenced him to the sickness that held him down for 38 years. Only God knows the life he lived, only heaven knows how many times he was warned to desist from some sinful practices. We will never know the level of rebellion he operated that caused the Lord to allow him see life from another angle.
Jesus had to caution him afresh, just in case he had forgotten in those 38 years. The question then is this: why would sin cause such pain and suffering? Here are a few reasons:
-Sin creates a wall of partition between you and God. Sin is a separator of man from God; Isaiah 59:1-2.
-Sin means “missing the mark”. When you sin, you go out of alignment with God. It takes you to where God cannot protect you.
-Sin is an automatic permission for demons and their sicknesses to gain access into your life. Because the accuser of the brethren would have accused you before God and obtained legal grounds to punish you according to the word of God. Remember that the wages of sin is death? The devil may not be able to kill you at once, but he could introduce into your life, sicknesses that could lead to death. So, when Jesus told that man to sin no more, both the man and Jesus understood what they were saying perfectly. It was a 38 year old stubbornness that must not repeat itself.
Receive grace to live a sin free life and subsequently a sickness free life in Jesus Name.
Action Points
i. Ask the Lord to help you with any kind of stubbornness and besetting sin that could drag you into the regions of sicknesses.
ii. Seek help with an accountability partner over any stubborn sin in your life, and make sure you help each other in this regard.
Prayer
-Lord please help me to please you with my life in Jesus Name.
-Cause Holy Living to become natural to me in Jesus Name.
-I receive the grace to bring you joy with my everyday steps, choices and decisions in Jesus Name.
