HOW TO LOVE GOD

Genesis 27:1-4,14 KJV
“And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I. And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death: Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved”.

Isaac could not have been loved by Esau the way Esau wanted to love him. Rather, Esau could only love his father the way his father wanted to be loved. One of the most effective and powerful ways to love your father is by doing things that he loves. Isaac wanted his son to bring to him what he loved, and that was the way he was going to release his blessing on Esau. If Esau had brought something other than what was prescribed, there would not have been any blessing.

We want to use this same principle in our relationship with God. You can only love God the way He wants to be loved, and not the way you feel convenient or want to love Him. You can love God by doing the things that He loves; give Him what He loves; things that will please Him and this will bring His blessing on you. Unfortunately, Esau failed to bring the venison on time, as such, missed the blessing as a result. So, what do you know that your Heavenly Father really loves? Here are a few suggestions.

-God loves to be praised and worshipped: As busy as He is with the whole heaven and earth’s affairs, He still finds time to unfailingly inhabit the praises of His people. Psalm 22:3.

-God loves souls: This happens to be the second thing that moved God out of heaven to die on earth in the person of His Son Jesus Christ. John 3:16
These first two things are things God cannot do for Himself. So, when you do them for Him, He will do for you, what you cannot do for yourself.

-God loves a cheerful giver: Giving is a demonstration of love and trust for God and He doesn’t take it lightly.

Receive grace to love God for real in Jesus Name.
