WHY WERE YOU BORN?
John 18:37 KJV

Wednesday 5th March

LORD REDIRECT MY PASSION

(Acts 26:10-11 KJV)
‘Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.’

Paul the apostle was among those Jesus talked about who would kill believers and feel they were rendering services to God. John 16:2. Paul was extremely passionate about the law that he was willing to do anything to stop believers in Jesus Christ. All He knew was the laws of Moses and He was willing both to die and to kill for it.

In the course of His negative passion, Stephen was martyred at his order and under his supervision. It was a passion that was misdirected; it was a passion that had missed its way. Many of us are like that today; very passionate but for the wrong things and the wrong purposes. And until God redirects our passion as he did to Saul of Tarsus who became Paul the apostle, we may wind up useless in this world.

Too many people are more passionate about politics, football, music etc. than they are passionate about the kingdom of God in Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world. We even make enemies of ourselves and abuse ourselves on social media without shame. Whereas we are supposed to see things from the eyes of God, we are supposed to pray for His will at every point in time, and do our part.

I particularly like the way the message bible renders that text; “Make your motions and cast your votes, but GOD has the final say”.

Politics is not the only thing that has stolen our passion, some even cast their votes (bet) in football, wrestling, boxing etc. The list is endless; from being passionate about women, men, sports, animals, etc. meanwhile we get to have no passion left for God. Lord have mercy! Ask the Lord to redirect your passion today in Jesus Name.

Action Points/Prayer
i. Ask the Lord to make Himself your number one passion from today.
ii. Scale down every important thing in your life to number two down and let God take the first place now and always in your life.

Nugget
Until God redirects our passion as he did to Saul of Tarsus who became Paul the apostle, we may wind up useless in this world.
