WISDOM FROM ABOVE

GOD’S WISDOM FOR MARITAL SUCCESS
Ephesians 5:33 NIV
“However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
I have heard many men say to their wives “my father used to do it this way”. Many wives have also told their husbands similar things, “that was how I saw my mother do it”. Truth be told, many of our parents did not do very well in marriage at all. Their marriages did not break up simply because of the age they lived in. If you repeat their practices in today’s marriages, you will abysmally fail. So, drop your father’s/mother’s wisdom and embrace the wisdom from above about marriage.
The wisdom of God for marital success prescribes two laws:
Law # 1
The Law of Love
This happens to be directed to the husband primarily. Any time a wife is malfunctioning or not doing well, then a need for love has not been met in her life, and i am not referring to any kind of love that comes to your mind, no! There are two ways to love your wife; firstly by loving her the way she wants to be loved.
Pay attention to her needs, especially the ones that she has previously expressed to you in various ways. Learn about her worries and try to solve them and you will be loving her rightly. Secondly, love her the way Christ loves the church according to Ephesians 5:25. And Christ loved that church by giving Himself for her. Your wife wants you, your attention and affection more than anything else. Also, Jesus loves the church by speaking to her regularly. That is how He cleanses her. So also your wife needs conversation and communication from you on a regular basis. A wife not regularly spoken to will malfunction one way or another. She will not be at her best anymore and it will affect you the husband.
Dear husband, please set out time to have regular discussions and conversations with your wife, and your marriage will work. Love her the way she wants to be loved and she will function properly. Love her the way Jesus loves the church, by talking to her and with her regularly and she will feel cleansed and special.
Action Points
i. Take a pen and paper, and jot down the key points in today’s devotional. Devise ways to practise the points you have noted.
ii. Have a discussion with your wife and seek to know how best you can love her. Listen to her and do well to meet her needs.
Prayer
Husband’s Prayer: -Lord give me the grace to pay attention to the needs of my wife in Jesus Name.
-Deliver me from any tendency of taking my wife for granted in Jesus Name.
Wife’s Prayer: -Lord please touch my husband’s heart to see the areas of my needs after reading this devotional in Jesus Name.
-Lord minister to him by yourself and, may I not have to talk about it too often any more. Deal with him by yourself in Jesus Name. Let it work smoothly in Jesus Name.
Nugget
A wife not regularly spoken to will malfunction one way or another. So husbands love your wife the way she wants to be loved and she will function properly.
