THE SPIRIT INFLUENCED MARRIAGE
Ecclesiastes 4:12 KJV
“And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken”.
God never intended that marriage would be run by the husband and wife alone. God never expected that we would want to do marriage independent of Him as that would amount in total frustration. In our text, God started very clearly that marriage is meant to be a three-man business than a two-man business as many have believed. He said a threefold cord is not quickly broken, and this means that a twofold cord could be easily broken. God knew the kind of frustrations that marriage potentially carried and that was why He said it is meant to be a threefold cord affair.
The Holy Spirit is the third cord in the marriage mix that would make it workable in the first place. He is the only one who perfectly understands both the husband and the wife. He is the only one who knows that the wrong you did was not intentional, and He is the only one who will be able to explain to your spouse. He could serve as the intermediary between husband and wife, to make sure that the misunderstandings don’t go out of hand. He is the one who calms your nerves after some seeming offense by your spouse, He gets to make you see reasons from a whole new angle. That is the work of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit exists in the marriage equation as the third party that could be confided in at all times. He is the go to person when things don’t seem to be clear. You could report your spouse to the Holy Spirit, you could tell the Holy spirit to deal with your spouse on any matter at all. God doesn’t want you to struggle in marriage alone like an orphan. There is the help of the Spirit in marriage. He is the one you could vent to in moments of anger, frustrations and bewilderment.
There are things you would love to tell your partner and you are not sure how they would handle it, it is such matters that you should discuss with the third party of your marriage; the Holy Spirit. When you have vented to Him, your heart would become unclogged and clean for relationship with your spouse without all the toxins. Receive the grace to engage the Holy Spirit in your marriage in Jesus Name.
Action Points
i. Recognize and acknowledge the fact that the Holy Spirit is your personal helper in your marriage today.
ii. Acknowledge His role as the one who binds both you and your spouse together in marriage.
iii. Take advantage of the Holy Spirit today in your marriage to vent all the toxic materials in your heart. Talk to Him.
Prayer
-Lord, I thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit in my marriage in Jesus Name.
-I take advantage of Him today to keep my marriage healthy in Jesus Name.
-I subscribe to the help of the Holy Ghost each time in Jesus Name.
