THE POWER OF PRAYER
James 5:16 NIV
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective”.
Prayer remains the most effective means of communication between God and man. Where there is no prayer, there can be no reality of God, even though God is real, well and alive. There is a massive difference between a man of prayer and a person who does not engage prayer in their lives. God’s Presence is always manifest where prayer is abundant. That is why two people could get saved the same month but not experience God in the same way. Prayer might just be the difference.
God loves us all the same but does not work with us all in the same way. Because He had said “draw near to me and I will draw near to you”. Prayer is communication, and communication is the strength of any relationship. Relationships are strong or weak based on the effectiveness of the communication between the relating parties. Your relationship with God can move to the next level as you make your prayer life a priority from today. Stop settling for less than the best in your walk with God.
Our text reveals that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Firstly, the person is righteous, and God has already called us righteous by virtue of our relationship with Him. We had His righteousness imputed in us upon our acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for our sake. Then praying from that position of righteousness releases power. It is prayer that makes one Christian more powerful than the other. Demonic activities definitely increase around a person or places that are not prayerful. Jesus says it will become a den of thieves (according to Matthew 21:13). Devils hear nothing but power.
Lastly, your life will become effective because of prayer fellowship with God. This means that your life will be producing results, things will work around you, things will begin to work for you and in you. An attack on your prayer life is an attack on your effectiveness in life. Receive the grace for ceaseless prayer in Jesus Name.
