YOU BETTER FIGHT
(Isaiah 38:1-5 KJV)
“In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years”.
There is a funny behavior we see in people who are either sick or have one form of affliction or the other. Sometimes sick people refuse to get well due to the abundance of attention and goodwill that they enjoy from everyone around. As such, they directly or indirectly prolong their sick days without realizing it. It seems to me that Hezekiah was caught up in this trap. God must have expected him to aggressively come out of the sickness he was in, but he was taking it too easy. Then God sent him the message he didn’t want to hear.
Isaiah’s message to Hezekiah was very brief and simply: “put your house in order because you will die and not live”. If I were to re-render that verse of scripture, I would put it this way; “Hezekiah, since you have refused to be healed, now set your house in order because I have confirmed your demise…”. As soon as Hezekiah heard that message, a strange strength got into him, and he decided to put up a fight against that sickness for the first time. He turned to the wall and fought that sentence, he fought the disease and rejected the prophecy of death. He so fought to the point where Isaiah was not allowed to leave the premises of the palace, but was tuned back to Hezekiah.
Here is the lesson. If you pamper any sickness it will not go away. Never come to the point of becoming comfortable or at home with any sickness. Never let the attention you get from being sick trap you into being at ease with the sickness. If you refuse to fight the sickness, it will fight you. If you fail to kill that affliction it will kill you. Hezekiah arose like a lion and confronted that sickness squarely, and under few minutes, he terminated what must have crippled him for months. Receive grace to resist and overcome all kinds of internal and external sicknesses in your life in Jesus Name.
Action Points

ii. Set a deadline and an expiry date for every sickness in your life and body from now forward.
