THE SECRET OF SPEED II
2 Kings 2:11-15 KJV
“And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over. And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him”.
Elisha was not the only one in the school of prophets with Elijah. There were other upcoming prophets under training with Elijah as well, and their aim was not just to learn but to contact the mantle of God upon Elijah’s life. But only one person knew the shortest cut to that mantle; and that was Elisha. While others were busy reading and attending lectures on prophecies only, Elisha added service to his own life.
The secret of Elisha’s speed to receiving the anointing therefore was service. He served the carrier of the oil or the mantle. He waited on Elijah, in fact, in 2Kings 3:11, it was recorded that Elisha poured water on the hands of Elijah. I thought they would recognize him as the assistant prophet, but no, everyone saw him as the servant of Elijah; as in ‘water boy’, ‘bag carrier’, ‘shoe shiner’, ‘house cleaner’ ‘personal laundry man’ etc. of the prophet.
But the spirit of Elijah soon rested on him because he served Elijah to the end. He hung in there with his service till the very end. So, while other students were still praying and studying, the mantle came on Elisha, and everyone got to bow to him; recognizing that the spirit of Elijah was now on Elisha.
In this 2025, receive grace to contact favour, increase, anointing and unusual speed in Jesus Name.
Action Points/Prayer
-Lord bless me with the spirit of humility and service in Jesus Name.
-Cause me never to take my service opportunities for granted in Jesus Name.
-Use me to lift the hands of my Pastor and prophet in Jesus Name.
Nugget
One of the shortest cuts to receiving the grace and oil upon a man’s life is by dogged and unflinching service; just serve and keep serving.
