THE RICH FOOL
Luke 12:16-21 KJV
“And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
The story of the man who became popularly known as the rich fool is a typical example of how not to operate life as a rich person. There is a way to behave when God has blessed you with riches and wealth. The following were the things that qualified this man as a fool:
i. He failed to acknowledge that he was not responsible for the increase of the ground that he got. Man may plant and water but it is always God who gives the increase. No one knows exactly how the ground releases fruit; it is for this reason that we ought to be thankful to God.
ii. There was no plan in this man’s mind as to what and who should be helped by this great and bumper harvest. This man’s money had no mission whatsoever. He sparked his soul to eat and drink for many days; what a level of selfishness and self centeredness. God had to take him away since no one was going to be blessed by him.
iv. He had no upward investment to God. Many people become rich and totally forget God in the process, not knowing that God blesses you only as a channel and not a container.
v. Lastly, the bible says “the fool says in his heart that there is no God”. People don’t have to say things with their mouth but with their actions or inactions.
God took his life to serve as example to us, so we could honour and acknowledge Him in all of our affairs.
Receive grace to honour God today in Jesus Name.

i. Make God the number one partner of your business from today.
ii. Honour God with your resources from today in Jesus Name.
iii. Pray and reject all the other things listed above that ruined this man’s life.
Prayer
-Lord I vow to honour you from today with my business and all other endeavours in Jesus Name.
-Nothing will ever make me relegate you to the background anymore in Jesus Name.
Nugget
Many people become rich and totally forget God in the process, not knowing that God blesses you only as a channel and not a container.
