YOU WERE COMFORTED TO COMFORT OTHERS
(2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NKJV)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
I doubt strongly if there is any Christian that has not heard of the scriptural quote that says, “all things work together for good to them that love the Lord”, Romans 8:28. The condition is very simple; for being a lover of God, nothing is permitted to happen to you for nothing, and yes, even when you were wrong and it was all your fault. God still has a way of turning it around for your good.
I once spoke to someone who had really blundered in her life. It was so bad, and I could see the regret on her face, with all the “I wish I had listened” expressions written all over. Just then a word came to me, and I heard myself say to her “make sure you do not waste all these experiences and pains that you have had to go through. Make sure you use it to be a blessing to other people; position yourself to help others and you will not feel that much pain any more”.
The truth of our text today is that nothing happens to us for nothing, there are certain things that God allows us to go through for the sake of others as well and sometimes, God uses certain people as models. He allows them go through all sorts, then turns around to comfort them. Hereafter, He positions many other people with similar situations their way, so they can comfort others by the same comfort with which God had comforted them previously.
It is just very possible that you have been appointed and ordained by God to be a certain kind of teacher and to reach a certain kind of people. That may just explain all that you have been going through. I remember the very first day I really paid attention to the scripture in Romans 8:28, which says that “all things work together for good to them that love God…”. My first reaction was, Did the word really say all things? I cross-checked and confirmed it to be so. The bible really said “all things”; The good, bad, ugly, nasty, senseless, etc. Believe it or not, they all work for your good. They work together and not singly.
I decree that everything is working for you in Jesus Name.
