THE SPIRIT OF UNDERSTANDING
Isaiah 11:1-2 KJV
“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord”.
The Spirit of understanding is a component part of the Spirit of God in our lives. There is a spirit that makes understanding easy and accessible. The spirit of understanding will cause you to pierce through any knowledge or situation and gain quick understanding. Understanding is the ability to interpret a thing. The spirit of understanding will cause you to grab meanings of things and of people.
The spirit of understanding was at work in Joseph when the Pharaoh told him his dream. Remember that the dream was shared with the magicians and astrologers of the land, yet, not one of them could get the understanding or interpretation of the dreams of the king. Then came Joseph, who told Pharaoh that interpretations belong to God. Then he began to give a very clear understanding of the dream. At the end when Pharaoh commented about it, he said “who can find a man such as Joseph, a man in whom is the spirit of God”. He was acknowledging the spirit of wisdom and understanding, Genesis 41:38. How we need the spirit of understanding today!.
Receive grace to cultivate and embrace the spirit of understanding in Jesus Name.
Action Points
i. Know that understanding is a spirit, and it comes with the Spirit of the Lord.
ii. Ask the Lord for the activating of the spirit of understanding in your life today.
Prayer
-Lord, I know now that the spirit of understanding comes with the Holy Spirit, and I thank you for the spirit of understanding.
-Father, I ask today that you activate the spirit of understanding in my life in Jesus Name.
-Father, cause me to see beyond the way things appear and to see the meaning of things in Jesus Name.
