Marriage 101
HARMONIOUS MARITAL COEXISTENCE
(Matthew 7:1-2, 12 KJV)
‘Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.’
Marriage will work when the laws governing its success are obeyed. Nothing works without laws backing them up some way or somehow. It is very alarming how many people get into marriage and even want to go into marriage without embracing absolutely the laws and principles that make the institution of marriage work.
Today I give you one law or principle that will make marriage work. The reason for making it just one for today is so that you can practice it without distraction. And our text speaks volumes to married people and would be married people in that direction.
1. Do Unto Your Spouse What You Would Want Your Spouse To Do To You.
It is a law of seed time and harvest. Many homes have become victims of harvests of negative seeds sown in the past. Don’t sow what you would not like to reap in the future. Do not do anything to your spouse that you would not love them to do to you in return if you were to be in their shoes and them in yours.
Seeds such as;
Seeds of words: Release of negative words to your spouse must be cut off.
Seeds of attitude: You should consciously avoid negative dispositions that weary your partner and make them want to run away.
Seeds of stinginess: kill tightness of hand and everything that causes artificial hardships.
Seeds of Harshness: Avoid every insensitive manner of speaking to your spouse.
All these will create a kind of harvests that you will certainly not like. There is a harvest for every action and the scriptures cannot be broken.
Action Points
i. Take stock of all the negative things you consciously or unconsciously do that grieves and hurt your spouse and make changes immediately.
ii. Possibly ask your spouse to point out whatever things you do that hurts them, and then seek their advice on how to make changes.
Prayer
-Lord I receive your help today to discontinue all forms of negative seed sowing that grieves my spouse in Jesus Name.
-I receive sweetness of spirit in my marriage in Jesus Name.
