SEE THE FUTURE
(Genesis 37:5-7 KJV)
‘And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.’
There is a future for everyone alive. But what future we finally get into is determined by what we see today. No future just comes; every future is created one way or another. Even if God had determined that you would have a magnificent future, if you fail to play your role in the whole process, that future will most certainly not come to pass.
God said “I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you an expected end”. The NIV version says “to give you a hope and a future”. If God wants to give us a hope and a future it then means that our present is not what we desire for ourselves right now. Most times, our present is always less than desirable. But you must know how to stretch yourself to see the picture of your future as painted in the scriptures, so that you can capture in the vision in which you will feature in your future.
Don’t tell me Joseph was just lucky or fortunate to have had those dreams, no! Joseph simply filled his mind with the word of God as told him by his father which in turn painted a clear picture of his future and how he was to feature in it. Most times you will see God use the word “behold” in the bible. It is because He wants you to see what He says and not just to hear it. Create a vision out of what God has said and you would have gotten a future for yourself. This was the story of Joseph.
How to see the future
– Daily fellowship with God: This includes daily prayer of at least one hour a day, especially in the morning hours. This prayer is not necessarily a time of request making, but a moment of worship and deep praying in the spirit.
– Daily word intake is another way we fellowship with God too. At least one chapter of the bible on a daily basis is a good start. Prayer is talking to God, but when we approach the bible, it is time for God to speak back to us. Hosea 6:3 reveals that we will acquire much insight as we press on to know the Lord. “Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord”. So the more you know the Lord the more of your future you get to see and know. Paul said “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection…” Then he said “that I may apprehend the reason for which I was apprehended by Christ Jesus”. The more of God you know, the more of yourself you get to discover and this includes your future.
See your future in Jesus Name.
Action Points
i. Determine today to never step out of your house or room without spending quality time of at least one hour with God daily.
ii. Develop a new habit of absorbing through reading, meditating and confessing one chapter of the bible each day into your spirit.
Prayer
-Lord I receive the grace to see my future as I dwell in your presence in Jesus Name.
-I overcome every anti-dwelling spirit in my life in Jesus Name.
