WHY WERE YOU BORN?
(John 18:37 KJV)

Sunday 30th March

IF YOU WILL HEAR, GOD WILL SPEAK

(1 Samuel3:9-10 KJV)
“Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.”

God does not speak to people for the fun of it. God speaks only to people that will listen and pay attention. God speaks to people that will obey whatever He instructs them to do. Too many people have desired to hear God speak to them but to no avail all because it may be of no use speaking to them.

When God called Samuel in our text, his intention was to speak to him, but Samuel needed to make the right response in order for God to start talking to him. So, each time God called him, he had to respond to Eli. God knew that he knew the voice of Eli much more than His own voice. As such, God made put it in Eli’s heart to prepare Samuel to hear Him by teaching him to say “speak Lord, for your servant is heareth”. It was then and only then that God spake further.

The lesson is very simple – If you are willing to hear, God will speak to you. If God sees a heart that is ready to obey, He is always ready to speak.

Action Points/Prayer
i. Lord I am ready to hear and obey you from today onward, please speak to me Lord in Jesus Name.
ii. Father forgive those times I did not respond to your leadings and speakings in my life in Jesus Name.
iii. Lord teach me to more accurately discern your voice in Jesus Name.

Nugget
If you are willing to hear, God will speak to you, and if God sees a heart that is ready to obey, He is always ready to speak.
