DO NOT WORSHIP YOUR BLESSING
(Hosea 8:4 KJV)
They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
Here in this scripture above is one of the reasons, if not the main reason why God does not bless people so easily. If you ever see God delay to bless people with money especially, this is one of the chief reasons for that.
People have the tendency of idolizing blessings and riches. People have disappointed God so many times in previous times with regards to wealth and riches of this world. In our text God said “of their silver and gold have they made them idols”. How do people make idols out of God’s blessings in their lives? They give it all their time, attention, they put in their thoughts in it, more than in anything else, including God. They would miss church services to protect or preserve that wealth. Their prayer lives literarily dies and their appetite for the word of God just dies on the spot.
It is for reasons like this that God would first establish your love for Him and your passion for His work and Kingdom before pouring out the blessing on you. Don’t bother to pray to be rich, except it is not God you expect your wealth from. God does not just hear your prayer, He sees your heart and hands and then pours out His reward of wealth. Because He knows that when you become wealthy, you will still use your wealth for Him and His kingdom.
God wants to bless you if only He can confirm that after the riches, your worship of Him will not be shifted or carried away by His blessings.
Action Points/Prayer
i. Lord keep my heart fixed on you in Jesus Name. And in my prosperity may I never be moved.
ii. Ask God to purge your heart from all forms of greed and covetousness.
iii. Ask the Lord to set your heart on fire for Him.
Nugget
God wants to bless you if only He can confirm that after the riches, your worship of Him will not be shifted or carried away by His blessings.
