WISDOM FROM ABOVE
(James 3:17)

GOD’S WISDOM FOR MARRIAGE
(Hebrews 13:4 NKJV)
“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
If marriage must work, then things must be simplified to the bearest minimum for maximum success, and our text did not come with any form of ambiguity whatsoever. The simple truth and wisdom of marital success in general, whether it is the man or the woman is HONOUR. Let us look at the various ways this honour applies in marriage.
i. Honour marriage.
Have respect for the marriage institution in all you do.
Respect marriage as a creation of God and by so doing you would be honouring God who created it. Beyond that person you married, honour the institution.
ii. Respect your spouse.
Never allow yourself come to the point where your spouse loses regard in your eyes, as it happened to Michal the daughter of Saul and wife of King David. Make conscious and deliberate effort to ensure your spouse is honoured in your heart and your eyes. Make sure everyone around you including the children know this.
iii. Honour the marriage bed.
By this I mean the sexual experience. Never ever allow yourself to experience it with any other person anywhere in this world. That would be a great dishonor to your spouse, to marriage and God.
iv. Honour God by keeping Him as number one.
Whatever you do, never make the mistake of relegating God to the background. Make sure He has the pre eminence in your home and marriage. That is how God is honoured, when He is given first place. No matter what you do for God, if he does not come first, He doesn’t get to feel honoured. And you know that God confers reciprocal honour on anyone who honours him. 1Samuel 2:30.
Marriage is smooth, stressless, effortless, glorious and beautiful when God is given the first place in honour.
BE WISE IN JESUS NAME.
Action Points
i. Pay attention to the lessons of today and read it all over again.
ii. Examine yourself to see how many you have been doing and which ones may be lacking. And then pray them into your life.
Prayer
-Lord you said I could ask for wisdom when I lack it. Please fill me with the wisdom for marital honour in Jesus Name.
-Deliver me from all kinds of foolishness in Jesus Name.
Nugget
