WHAT IS WISDOM?
Matthew 7:24 NKJV
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:”
There are many definitions of wisdom out there. But the scriptures affords us the privilege of some out-of-the-ordinary kinds of definitions that are not easy to access. Jesus is known as the wisdom of God Himself, and as such His definitions cannot be trivialized.
Jesus says wisdom is hearing the word of God and doing it. Just in case you didn’t consider yourself a wise person before now, or people may have tagged you a foolish person, the way to prove them and yourself wrong is by hearing and reading the word of God and doing it. The act of doing the word of God is both wise and makes one wise. When you engage the word of God in practical obedience over a period of time, you will become wise in a short time.
In case you’re wondering how this can be possible, the reason is simple, the word of God is the highest form of wisdom there can ever be anywhere. To do the word of God therefore, is to register among the wisest men on earth. And as you know, wisdom makes for greatness, posterity, prosperity, property and longevity. Further reading into our text will reveal that the man who hears and does the word of God could not be destroyed by the rain, wind or flood. He is a person of solid foundation. The word of God is the foundation of all things and only truly wise people hear and do it.
Action Points/Prayer
-Lord I reject all forms of forgetful hearing in Jesus Name.
-I reject all forms of rebellion against the word of God in Jesus Name.
