BECOMING WISE

Proverbs 13:20 KJV‬‬
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

I really wonder if anyone is born wise. There are few things people are born into that I know. I know that a man can be born a prince, by belonging to a royal family or by being the son of a king. Some people have been born rich by being born into a family of very massive wealth. There are possibly a few more things people are born into. But for the most part, i don’t think that people are born wise, rather people become wise.

Jesus would have been such a man that was born wise, but He wasn’t born that way, rather he grew in wisdom at a point, and then increased in wisdom at another instance; Luke2:40,52. The way and manner Jesus became wise was not strange at all, because it is recorded that he associated with the doctors of the law, both hearing them and asking questions; Luke 2:46-47. That was one of the many routes that led to His wisdom.

Our text further alludes to that fact that association can bring you to wisdom. Unlike knowledge which can be acquired by schooling and learning; wisdom is contacted and received. Joshua received wisdom by the laying on of hands by Moses. That association conferred wisdom on him, so also you can become wise by the kind and quality of friends or associates you have or keep around you.

Take a good census of your close associates and determine if you have become wise or wiser by associating with them. If not, they shouldn’t be so close to you, except you want to influence them into wisdom.

Action Points
